Disability Services with a Personalised Approach

TLC

Tender Loving Care (TLC) works for a world where children, young people and adults are able to access the services they need to access their goals and achievements.

In Australia, at least 1 in 5 people have a disability. According to the Australian Network on Disability:

“A disability is any condition that restricts a person’s mental, sensory or mobility functions. It may be caused by accident, trauma, genetics or disease. A disability may be temporary or permanent, total or partial, lifelong or acquired, visible or invisible”.

Why are disability services important?

According to the Australia Bureau of Statistics, the life expectancy of Australians born with Down Syndrome has more than tripled in the four decades to 2002, increasing from 18 years to 60 years. We believe this has been possible due to the changes in the attitudes towards Down Syndrome as well as the increase accessibility of disability services.

TLC acknowledges disability rights in the community and helps pave the way for all individuals to achieve their goal. Although we have come a long way for disability rights in Australia, challenge, negative attitudes and physical barriers still exist and restrict people with disabilities from accessing their potential.

The demand in Sydney for high quality disability care continues to grow. Disability care is a valuable resource as it enables individuals, regardless of gender, age and status, to acquire or regain their independence and mobility. When TLC first introduced these services, we understood the value they brought to individuals in terms of access to integration, education, skills and opportunity.

TLC and the Community

TLC is a registered provider with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). We are committed to providing people with disabilities a reasonable, individualised support service that facilitates community access and helps them successfully achieve their life goals.

According to one of our clients:

“But when i went deeply with their services I realised that they make my dream come true, they are honest, fast, passionate. Their first priority is the patient.”

We take a personalised approach with our clients, always beginning with effective communication. We focus on what our clients want to develop, learn, improve or pursue. Our response is shaped according to the client’s wants and needs.

Furthermore, we provide support in helping clients develop social skills, strengthen problem solving skills, increase self-awareness and build independence relative to the disability. Our aim is to look out for the clients’ personal and social well-being as they work to achieve their life goals.
